What is the Exponential Moving Average (EMA)?
An exponential moving average is a moving average that gives more weight to recent prices, so it reacts faster to a change in direction than a simple average of the same length.
How it is usually read
It is read like any moving average: price above it suggests strength, price below it suggests weakness, and a short EMA crossing a long one is a common trend signal. Because it reacts faster it also gives more false signals in choppy markets.
