What is the Stochastic oscillator?
The stochastic oscillator shows where the latest close sits within the highest and lowest prices of the last 14 periods, from 0 (at the low) to 100 (at the high). It is drawn as two lines, %K and a smoothed %D.
How it is usually read
Readings above 80 are often read as overbought and below 20 as oversold, and %K crossing %D is watched as a short-term signal. As with the RSI, a strong trend can keep it at an extreme.
